Contentum Creatio - Vanessa Smith
Introduction
Contentum Creatio is a workshop style book, designed to turn you into a wizard at creating content for your blog.
The book is divided up in to four modules.
1. Content Strategy
2. Creating Content
3. Sharing Content
4. Taking Content Further
How much work do I have to do?
This book is workshop style – so the more effort and thought you put into the activities, the more you’ll get out of it. If you don't do the activities, you'll probably get nothing out of it. You can rush through it all at once, or do one part per day. I'd recommend one part per day, so that the lessons have time to marinate in that brain of yours.
Module 1: Content Strategy. Part 1: Time
Welcome to Module 1, Part 1 of Contentum Creatio. I'm really happy that you've decided to take the plunge and learn about creating & planning content for your blog(s).
In order to get the best out of this book, I would recommend that you have a notebook of some description to gather your thoughts in each day. It can be physical (a great excuse to buy some new stationery) or digital (a specific file in your organisational/note taking app of choice). The exercises in the course do build on each other and you will need to refer back to previous days in some exercises.
Firstly, it's all about TIME.
Time is that thing that we always think we don't have enough of, or that we don't use wisely enough. Everyone has a different level of family, work, caring, social and all other types of obligations on their time, which means it can be hard to find a way to fit a business or hobby in. The thing that I find about productivity and time management is that I read tips on it, think Oh wow, that's a great tip – IF I had that person's life
.
Have a think about it – many tips are great, IF you have kids old enough to make their own lunches. IF you have more than one computer in your house. There are lots of ifs
in time management.
Contenum Creatio is about working with YOU. With what you have, with what you want from your blog and with what time you have available.
To kick today off, I want you to think about the
