About this ebook
Ex-Special Forces trainee turned bodyguard Charlotte 'Charlie' Fox is back in this, her 13th adventure.
“If Jack Reacher were a woman, he’d be Charlie Fox.”—Lee Child
One bad turn...deserves another.
Charlie Fox has quit her job in close protection, been turned out of her apartment, and is apparently out of options.
House-sitting in rural New Jersey has to be the pits—TV and TV dinners. A far cry from Iraq... Bulgaria... Afghanistan. Unlucky or not, she happens to be around at the right time to foil a violent kidnap attempt on Helena, wife of billionaire arms dealer, Eric Kincaid.
Kincaid offers her a job looking after Helena. The rumours about Kincaid’s business empire say he’s gone over to the dark side, but Charlie is in no position to be fussy. And protecting people against those who want to do them harm is what she’s good at. But when the threats against the Kincaids escalate, and then follow the couple over to Europe, Charlie’s really going to have to up her game. It’s time to take the fight to the enemy.
Charlie’s at her best putting an end to trouble. Now she must learn to strike first. And hope that the Kincaids don’t discover the secret she’s been keeping from them, right from the start.
Praise for Zoe Sharp and Charlie Fox
“Ill-tempered, aggressive and borderline psychotic, Fox is also compassionate, introspective and highly principled: arguably one of the most enigmatic—and coolest—heroines in contemporary genre fiction.” —Paul Goat Allen, Chicago Tribune
“Sharp deserves a genre all her own—if you are just discovering Zoë Sharp then you are in for a real treat.”—Jon Jordan, Crimespree Magazine
“Charlotte (Charlie) Fox is one of the most vivid and engaging heroines ever to swagger onto the pages of a book. Where Charlie goes, thrills follow.”—Tess Gerritsen
“Zoe Sharp is one of the sharpest, coolest, and most intriguing writers I know. She delivers dramatic, action-packed novels with characters we really care about."—Harlan Coben
"In a world where lots of people act cool, Zoe Sharp's books are cool. But ... they're not only cool. They're razor sharp, deeply felt, and heartbreakingly immediate. These are action thrillers about a woman who works as a bodyguard, frequently trying to protect women, and there's no cheapening the central issue of violence (often against women) as a means to an end. In fact, by wrapping this societal cancer in noirish, kickass, often funny thrillers, written in coolly polished prose, Sharp can take societal violence farther and hit it harder than many so-called literary writers. And do it in language that's almost poetic in its economy and impact. Sharp is one of the writers whose books I open with a bit of reluctance in case the new one isn't up to the earlier ones, because they're that good."—Timothy Hallinan
Reader reviews:
"What kept me enthralled was the evolution of this MacGuyver-resourceful, pit-bull tenacious, intensely loyal woman."
"Charlie Fox is absolutely my favorite female protagonist!"
"It’s an elegantly crafted thriller, engaging and enticing and I could not recommend it more."
"This is a five-star book for sure."
"Zoe Sharp has done it again and turned out another stonking-good read."
"If you looked up 'page-turner' in the dictionary I would not be at all surprised to see a picture of the front cover of BAD TURN in lieu of a definition. If you like the Charlie Fox series, this is a must-read, but even if you’ve never read a Charlie Fox book before, this is still a must-read."
"I couldn't tear myself away. And am now sitting in a holding pattern for the next Charlie Fox book. Can't wait."
"Charlie Fox is back! I was hooked by the second page! The book is full of twists and turns that you never see coming. I was blown away from the big reveal at the end. You won’t be able to put the book down. It is that good!"

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I like strong female characters and Charlie Fox is a fairly good one but the two books I’ve read are too steeped in pro-West politics and determined to paint the countries & people of the Middle East in both a negative & simplistic light. These stories just reinforce stereotypes & are clearly meant for a certain kind of dumbed-down audience. I’ve read Books 12 & 13 & nothing makes me want to go back to discover the start of the series. I’m surprised that Lee Childs gave this such a full-throated recommendation. I’m growing more wary of fellow-author & bookclub reviews because you all are ultimately wasting my time.
