    A broken-hearted twenty-three-year-old woman with no job prospects ran away from her problems. She got herself certificates in teaching English as a foreign language and in teaching yoga, picked up her small guitar and yoga mat, and left little Oxford behind to live and work in Jakarta, Indonesia.

    The UK had nothing to offer her a year later on her return, so she accepted a teaching job in China, and took off again with her yoga mat and guitar.

    The UK could never offer much, so she worked in East Asia for five years, returning to Oxford for the summer holidays and sometimes Christmas, writing and collecting songs along the way.

    The Pagan, the 'witch,' who has a great love and appreciation for Mother Earth and all her nature.

      Dedication

      I dedicate this book to my twenty-three-year-old, broken-hearted self, seventeen years ago.

      Who said you should never run away from your problems?

      Running away from mine at that point in my life was the best thing I ever did.

      I felt trapped in my home-town, Oxford, and my ticket to freedom was having my heart broken, and, after five years, being single again.

      I got a teaching job in Indonesia, learned a few chords on my tiny guitar, packed the guitar with my stuff, and left.

      Best thing I’d ever done.

      I dedicate this to my fearless, adventurous, and musical younger-self, who lived and worked in Indonesia, China, and South Korea over a six-year period, picking up Bahasa Indonesia, Mandarin Chinese, Shaolin Kung Fu and Wushu Kung Fu along the way, and teaching English, Yoga, Biology, and Science.

      I love you, Rayner.
