    Identity Crisis - Khali Raymond

    Delusions Mirages

Moving this utensil across the page

and I’m blanking, even the most

miniscule of tasks I dread tackling

A brother’s motivation is continuing to wane as I’ve been

splitting cheeks since the day I finished The Ballad of Sidney Hill

Nigga, don’t confuse the aforementioned statement with something else

It’s just me being creative and straying away from clichés

Though each poem differs, I’m using the same narrative and vocabulary

Thinking dat’ I ain’t coming up with anything original, I just happen

to be regurgitating what I said three years ago when The Collective was still a new series

Botching quality to surpass a milestone and have a right to boast just because

This is what savage writer has been reduced to, can’t be right

    I need dat’ hiatus

    Said I need dat’ hiatus

After 2020 an artist needs to pursue new ventures

while coming up with future projects

Ready to return to form, crime, and urban thriller

Studio is calling my name, find me a producer with murderous beats

I’ll just take my influence to stage, a few vocal lessons and I’ll be signing in operas

Catch me in a handful of movies

Sooner or later, I shall make an acting debut

How could I forget about the merchandising?

Real estate, doing God’s work by helping da’ less fortunate

Feeding the homeless, paying children’s tuitions
