London Design Festival 2019 delighted with its intimate private showings and big, brave signature installations. From Belgravia to Shoreditch, Karen McCartney discovers original thinking in every corner of the city.

Street Style

Designer Camille Walala’s distinctive play of colour and elementary form popped up in an installation transforming smart retail area South Molton Street into the ‘Walala Lounge’ with 10 sculptural benches, planters and oversized flags. In a more portable expression of her work, she showed a range of hand-tufted rugs for Floor Story, including ‘Chroma Token’ (below).
