HISTORY

The burger was created in the 19th century and its popularity was boosted at the 1940 World’s Fair in St. Louis. Historically, a burger - or hamburger - consists of ground beef that has been pan fried or barbecued and served in a bun. Traditional condiments include ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, and relish, as well as toppings such as lettuce, tomato, onion, bacon, pickles and cheese. Popular early restaurants that served burgers were White Castle in 1921 and Kewpee Hamburgers
