HISTORY
The burger was created in the 19th century and its popularity was boosted at the 1940 World’s Fair in St. Louis. Historically, a burger - or hamburger - consists of ground beef that has been pan fried or barbecued and served in a bun. Traditional condiments include ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, and relish, as well as toppings such as lettuce, tomato, onion, bacon, pickles and cheese.
