    Preface

In this book I draw from several decades of experience in music and worship ministry and pass on some practical concepts I have applied to my own life. I’ve tried to be brief, practical and relevant.

I am grateful to every team member I have worked with and each church in which I’ve served. I dedicate this Worship Leader’s Handbook to all who want to know more about the behind the scenes workings of worship ministry and the making of a worship leader.

When I was in seventh grade a beautiful but rather pathetic sounding guitar appeared in our home and I started taking lessons from my junior high music teacher. About two years later the guitar was replaced by a lovely new Yamaha I received as a Christmas gift from my parents. Little did I know that this would set me on an exciting journey.

My Junior High music teacher, Mr. Peter Dueck, was an incredibly gifted teacher and I was incredibly fortunate to have him at our school for the three years I was in Junior High,
