The prestigious Telstra Ballet Dancer Awards are highly regarded within the industry, not least because nominees are selected by their peers, staff and previous winners. And while this year’s six talented candidates are navigating various stages of their careers at The Australian Ballet, they all shine brightly for their hard work, determination and spellbinding ability.

ISOBELLE DASHWOOD, corps de ballet dancer

Growing up with a ballet teacher for a mother, Dashwood was immersed in dance early, and while she knew it was the “Not many people get to do roles like that so early on in their career,” the 22-year-old admits. Dashwood is also a philanthropy ambassador, a position that sees her bridge the gap between the dancers and the patrons of The Australian Ballet. Back inside the studio, the young talent says she’s enjoying developing her artistry. “I was more of a technical dancer,” she explains. “So I’ve really loved growing in that sense, and learning how to come out of my shell through my movement.”
