Re-Treating
It is about a 7-hour flight from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur (KL), then another 1 ½ hours from KL to Koh Samui. So I was happy to finally touch down at the airport and be greeted by a lovely young man from Kamalaya Retreat in his mini-bus, who transported me to the Kamalaya door. A quick tour by golf cart gave me an overview of the immediately quietening, soothing, lush and sedating surroundings, built into the cliff face and on top of an abundance of boulders. My accommodation was accessed by a few steps (something there is also no shortage of at Kamalaya) with 180 degree views out over the sea and the beautiful tropical gardens. I must admit after this, the first 24 hours were a bit of a blur as I consciously started to let myself fall into a deeply restful state. This was to be the beginning of a 7-day retreat, and I would be doing the new Embracing Change Program.
DAY 1 - ALLOWING
The first thing I mentally note, is that I must be careful not to get too busy doing things. I have found that you can really get caught up with doing too many activities and don’t give yourself time to just at retreats (this does of course depend upon the program you have chosen). You really have to monitor yourself and keep a balance between getting the rest you need and working yourself out. A balance between what your inner self is calling you to do, and what your body is asking you to do. This is also where the treatments come in though, as they aid this process. Hopefully, it shouldn’t be something you need to think too much about. The idea of the retreat is that you can just let yourself go and trust in
