Offshore funds – who will blossom in 2020?

investing offshore, a novelty a mere couple of years ago, is now within the reach of all South Africans who want to gain exposure to global stocks. Investors have a choice of thousands of listed offshore stocks.

In order to benchmark the performance of global stocks, a widely used measure is the MSCI World Index. This gauge has 1 651 large and mid-cap constituents across 23 countries and returned 23.8% in dollar terms between the beginning of the year and 25 November. The FTSE/JSE All Share Index returned 11.2% in rand terms for the same period.

It seems that those investors having offshore exposure banked it this year.
