About this ebook
Google Classroom is a collaboration tool, a free one, made for teachers and students. With Google classroom, a teacher can create an online classroom, and then issue invites to his or her students. Teachers can also create assignments and have them distributed to the students. The Google classroom also has an option that allows teachers and students to have conversations about assignments, while also tracking the students' progress. To use Google classroom, Institutions of learning must register for a Google Apps for Education account. The registration is free of course.
The Google classroom app has very useful apps and features. Students and teachers cannot find these features in their personal Google accounts. For instance, in the forms, teachers have the option of adding images to questions or as multiple-choice answers. The Gmail Inbox groups classroom messages in the inbox. This allows students and teachers to easily identify highlights and updates. The classroom tool also allows teachers to organize the class stream by adding topics to posts, while students and teachers can filter the stream for specific topics.
The high point of this application is that it encourages parent participation. Yes! Teachers have the option of inviting parents to the classroom so they can share summaries of student's work. Parents will also receive emails showing summaries of student work as well as class announcements.
A summary of the features of Google classroom includes:
- creates a connection between teachers and students
- eases the process of creating a class and inviting learners
- helps with the distribution of assignments
- facilitates communication between teachers and students
- has an option for creation, review, and marking of assignments.
You see, the Classroom is an integral part of Google for Education
The Google for Education Suite comprises core products including Gmail, Classroom, Vault, Drive, Docs, Calendar, Sheets, Sites, Slides, Forms, and Hangouts. The Classroom App differs from personal accounts in that it is available only to instructors and educators. Google Classroom apps are free of advertising and the email is available at a school's domain. Support is offered free of charge.
It is obvious that Google is offering tremendous assistance to parents and children who may be at home during the holidays. At this time, many schools have been closed and parents have a newfound deep appreciation for teachers. But for parents who are not technically trained for the job, can they get the much-needed assistance from Google Classroom?
I think so, and this guide will show you how.
