About this ebook
Of course, you can learn to ride a motorbike in five minutes! For most of his life, the author did not know how to ride a motorbike. But, when he had to do, it took him only five minutes. On his first ride on his first motorcycle, he travelled nearly 100 kilometres, across two cities and one national highway. If you already know how to ride a motorized two-wheeler such as a scooter, then you know how to ride a motorcycle. What you lack is the mechanical knowledge of how a motorcycle has to be operated. This book will teach you that in an hour or less. Acquiring the skill takes less than five minutes and honing it will require a few weeks of practice.

V. Subhash is an invisible Indian writer, programmer and cartoonist. In 2020, he published one of the biggest jokebooks of all time — 2020 FRESH CLEAN JOKES FOR EVERYONE. He followed this jokebook with a tech book on the free multimedia-editing utility FFmpeg and a 400-page volume of 149 political cartoons. Although he had published a few ebooks (using off-the-shelf software) as early as 2003, Subhash did not publish books in the traditional sense until 2020. For over two decades, Subhash had used his website www.VSubhash.com as the main outlet for his writing. During this time, he had accumulated a lot of published and unpublished material. This content and the advanced book-production process that he had developed helped him publish 21 books in his first year. In February 2023, Apress/SpringerNature published his rewritten and updated FFmpeg book as QUICK START GUIDE TO FFMPEG. Thus, by early 2023, Subhash had published 30 books! In 2022, Subhash ran out of non-fiction material and tried his hand at fiction. The result was UNLIKELY STORIES, a collection of horror and comedy short stories. After adding new stories to this fiction title (for its second edition), Subhash plans to pause his writing and move on to other things. Subhash pursues numerous hobbies and interests, several of which have become the subject of his books such as COOL ELECTRONIC PROJECTS, HOW TO INSTALL SOLAR and HOW TO INVEST IN STOCKS. He was inspired to write his jokebook after years of listening to vintage American radio shows such as ‘Fibber & Molly’ and ‘Duffy's Tavern’. For more, check out: www.VSubhash.in

Learn To Ride A Motorcycle In Five Minutes - V. Subhash
Preface
Of course, you can learn to ride a motorbike in five minutes! Riding a bike is all about clutch control. If you know it, you got it. The rest is easy.
For most of my life, I did not know how to ride a motorbike. When I had to, it took me only five minutes. On my first ride, I covered nearly 100 kilometres, across two cities and one national highway. I could do it thanks to some online videos. It does sound like learning brain surgery through postal lessons, does it not?
Until a few years ago, owning a bike was not in my list of things. I like to walk or use public transportation. My previous re-engagement with a bicycle was not a happy one, as the polluted city air seemed to asphyxiate me. On the day when I had to pick up my new bike, the person who was supposed to bring it home from the showroom failed to show up. However, I had planned just for this exigency. In the week before, I had watched several videos by biking enthusiasts and experts explaining various aspects of motorcycling. In my mind, I would go through the same steps several times until I knew them by heart. On the appointed day, the dealer handed me my helmet and key, and told me that there was very little fuel in the tank and I needed to fill it up as soon as possible. I then wheeled the bike to the streets behind the showroom and went through the steps once more in my mind. I did not get it right the first time but in less than five minutes, I was out of there and at a nearby fuel station with my bike. Then, I got out of the city and was about to get on the highway. Just then, I stopped at a traffic signal and for the life of me I could not restart the bike! A traffic policeman asked me if I was drunk. Then, some guy helped identify my problem. The bike was in second or third gear when it should have been on first. Lesson learned, the rest of the journey was less eventful. It took me two or three hours. I was a slow rider at third-gear speeds but good enough for a first-timer.
That was my first ride. It took me a few weeks more to learn everything else by trial and error. I am writing this book to spare you of that trouble.
There are several kinds of motorbikes. This book provides a generic tutorial. It does not profess to be the be-all and end-all motorcycling compendium from an expert in the field. I answer many of the doubts and questions that I had when I started with a bike. I also provide some other information that I found too late or from trial and error. This book is what I had learned and I am sparing you the guesswork. If you know better, do email me at Info@VSubhash.Com

This book is about learning to ride, not to pass a driver's test or be able to answer questions about road traffic regulations. This book also assumes that you know how to ride a motorised two-wheeler like a scooter and are familiar with road driving conditions. Most people lack the unique mechanical knowledge of operating a motorcycle and as a consequence do not ride them. This book tries to describe the motorcycle in simple terms and then explains how to operate it. Nothing more should be expected from it.
For your part, you need to read your motorcycle's user manual and get adequate clarifications about your bike from the dealer before going out on the road. Practice in a
