    21 DAY CHALLENGE

    Preamble

Belief is a point of entry

Conceptualization is nothing compared to an experiential dream. Let’s transcend theory and live out everything there is to accomplish. Let’s elevate past our current circumstances and transfer ourselves to revolving cycles of constant completion. Let’s challenge the culture of our everyday lives to exude the gifts that have been buried deep down inside of us. We must strive to challenge and innovate ourselves daily. Innovation is an enduring continual process. By suppressing failure, you suppress future success. Whether you are consistently successful or endure failed attempts from time to time like the majority of us, we can dig deep into the courage each one us has to continue, to embark on life’s journey, and the adventures that are in store along the way. We must remain brave and reinforced in our mentalities to persist forward in bettering ourselves, and, ultimately, those who come in contact with us.

Innovation is not just for what is broken, although we all become fractured sometimes within this lifetime. Innovation is a path of evolution. And for us to be more than just survival specialists in the life, we should seek to evolve, adapt, and grow from both our old experiences and new uncomfortable ones. We will never step on the moon of our dreams if, at first, we don’t face the pressures of leaving the atmospheres of adversity.

    Peaking Perspectives

It was a strikingly sunny day among the Red Rocks in Las Vegas Nevada. Myself accompanied by my Lieutenant were embarking on what has been labeled a hard and strenuous hike up Turtlehead Peak Mountain amongst the Red Rock canyon on this beautiful 72-degree day in the desert. The total distance was five miles and for a couple of military guys with experience we were ready to tackle this 6,017-mile high elevation over the next four hours. So, we began and navigated through the brush, trail, and thicket, elevating higher up hills, excited for what awaited us at the top of the peak.

And after a mile we had realized we had only just reached the base of the mountain. And not only had we reached the base of the mountain, there were no more signs along the path to guides us up. We saw hikers taking multiple routes up and down the mountain. Many of them just guessing and heading towards the peak based on their own perspective on which way was better.

But me and my Lieutenant were not about to wander amongst the cliffs in hopes that we would stumble upon the right way to go. So, there lay in front of us our challenge. We had a will to move forward but no direction to follow to arrive at the peak that we longed to overcome. So we began to study the landscape, watching person after person, studying the trails and the various ways they scaled the mountain. Eventually, something caught my eye on a rock face. There was a green faded circle painted on the rock and we followed it. Then we came across another and another as we hiked higher and higher. Before we knew it, we were ascending the mountain. Climbing, hiking, jumping, and crawling our way up until we not only had a wonderous view of the Red Canyons but the whole city of Las Vegas. We made it to the top of the mountain not only with the will to move forward but with a shift in perspective. And a lot of times it’s not that we, with our many aspirations, don’t have the will to move forward but we don’t challenge our perspectives to get there. Whatever our there is: athletics, school, parenthood, relationships, fitness, faith, building a career, living a better lifestyle, health, starting a career, a business, etc. The list compounds on to what we feel our happiness and successes are. We took the time at the base of the mountain to seek the right perspective that would get us to the height we desired. We were willing to settle our ambitions until we made the right decision for our future. Likewise, you must challenge your perspective throughout your days, months, and years to better understand the footpaths that are going to take you closer to who you wish to be in this life.

Our book, this book, is designed with challenging viewpoints to push and drive the gears of your mind. We aim to open perspectives and build upon the foundations of your character just as we elevated past the base of that mountain. We want to plant the green dots along your life’s path that aid in steering you towards the peaks of your dreams. This book is not an all-in-one solution but it is a compass that can be pulled out to assist in clearing the ambiguity of life’s foggy dilemmas that we all face. To live in the residence of your dreams you must first stop living in the broken shelters of your past. And now we campaign away from the prevailing situational parking lots we are currently stationed and trek towards the peaks of our purpose.

    Challenge Question

Who’s in charge of your purpose?

    DAY 0

    Zero Day

Starting doesn’t always require movement but first

    understanding where we are currently

In 2014, Sony Pictures succumbed to what is called a Zero-Day attack. This attack ciphered off a bunch of the company’s information from high-level executives, unreleased films, and hundreds of terabytes of sensitive data. This was one of the worst attacks in corporate history! In the IT world, this term of zero-day refers to the ongoing time a system has malware or vulnerabilities without being aware of their existence at all. This means that the system has already been compromised without the owners knowing. The virus, malware, or intrusion has already or actively taken place. Once the vulnerability is found, remedied, contained, or mitigated then it becomes day one. Before we get to our day one challenge, we must first seek to look inside of ourselves to understand the things we are looking to remove, reduce, build upon, and have an awareness of. You cannot know where you are going if you do not know where you are at currently. You cannot hope to experience anything not having exposed yourself to it in the first place.

Exposure is key to this process as we are looking to expose those things currently that are true to our internal struggles. We will expose ourselves to new principals that will challenge us to maximize our time, potential, and capabilities moving forward. As stated earlier with the IT example, exposure makes us aware of our current standing. Zero day is to make you aware of the internal self-environment. You cannot change an environment you do not understand. So, let us briefly explore our internal climate through four silos physically, mentally, spiritually, and socially. Writing it down makes it real. Let’s write down elements we hope to improve or build upon in our silos:

    Ground Zero

Many people remember where they were when the tragic events of September 11 occurred. Whether in New York, D.C, Pennsylvania, or around the globe, it was a moment that shook the hearts of many Americans. I remember being in school that day and my seventh-grade teacher had turned on the television to understand the buzz that was circling the school. Once I saw the devastation that had took place I was in sudden disbelief. Both of my father and mother were working at the Pentagon the day when the events occurred. I had no contact with my parents and the explosions were on every channel. I remember just leaving the classroom, leaving the school, and immediately walking home pondering whether my parents were still alive!

As I came walking down the street, my neighbor Mrs. Dee, pulled me into her living room and hugged me as tight as she could as the planes repeatedly crashed into the Pentagon and NY towers, and wreckage was shown of the Pennsylvania field. It was hours into the evening before I found out my parents were ok. My mother and father had been at the Pentagon all day pulling people from the rubble, aiding the injured and providing support where needed. I remember all the white sheets that covered all the lifeless bodies, the sheer destruction, the debris, and the building that I had spent many days up and down the hallways in ruins. It was the definition of ground zero. Many of you reading this have been through and experienced destructive relationships, hardship, bad times, hurting times, and other circumstances that may have left parts of your life in ruins. So, this brings us to the ground zero of your life for our start to this journey. In this moment we are going to release our past to grab onto our future. You cannot hold onto both at the same time. You cannot build a residence in your future while still living in the shelters of your past. But we can take the rubble, the attacks, and the broken pieces and wipe the foundation clean. You have the power to move forward. You have the choice to unite your dreams with destiny. You have the ability to turn ground zero, the battleground of your life, into a base of operations that will set the foundation for your future.

    Kill Chain

Now that we have some things written down, we have not only a visual but some attack vectors moving forward. I am currently in the United States Air Force and a term common amongst groups who engage high visibility targets of any kind is the phrase kill chain. This means, specifically, the F2-T2-EA acronym. F2T2EA stands for find, fix, track, target, engage, and assess. Before you can execute on a target, you have to obviously find it. So there are many of you out there who are attempting to move forward, trying to engage life, trying to target your goals, and track
