The Highs & Lows on LEASING A HORSE

Leasing a horse can be a great situation. A Lessor benefits with their horse being worked or shown, taken care of, with all expenses covered, and in most cases, relocated to another location for the term of the agreement. The Lessee enjoys the privileges of having a horse, without having to actually pay for one, but must be aware that not all Leases are ‘free’.

But finding that perfect horse to Lease, or the right person to Lease one’s horse can be more daunting than the buying and selling process. The Lease horse must suit the person wanting to Lease, while the person Leasing out their horse, must be happy to send their valuable equine to that person.

Most importantly, the Lessee must have access to safe and reliable facilities to keep a horse, and be fully prepared to provide safe transport and adequate care, feed, agistment and shelter, as well as providing any Veterinary attention the Leased horse requires.
