Description
Rising: 21st Century Collection of Poems is a literary work of poetry from the year 1990 to 2016. During this period of twenty-six years, the author composed poetry from dreams, feelings, thoughts, and life experiences. Although the 1990 decade is the last of the twentieth century, poems in this work reflect inspirational reflections about life segueing into a new century. The poems inside this work are what the author considers "abstract-surreal." The author began writing poetry as a hobby, and the idea to publish did not come to mind until early in 2016.

Aperçu du livre
Rising Poem Collection - Peggy Treacher
2016)
Dreams(January 1990)
Door to the future,
look into the past,
string of a mundane present;
Dreams can be –
truth,
lies,
vacations,
classes,
adventures,
friends,
enemies,
travels,
answers to puzzles,
remembrances of things long forgotten.
Dreams, at times, are
shadows of another life
of what could have been,
could be,
should have been,
should be,
would have been,
if, only if, life can be as one dreams.
Good dreams.
Pink Tulip Dress(January 1990)
Easter!
Nice, breezy, sunny;
light fills a room.
Up!
clothed in a pink, tulip-shaped dress
sleeves reach the elbows
hem at the knees.
White sandals
and white gloves
with a white lace collar.
Strutting up and down the sidewalk
hair in a black ponytail
swinging down the back.
Don’t forget your purse
, calls Mother
handing me a pink one with
mock green petals.
Off to Easter service we go.
There Was A Generation(February 1990)
There was a generation
not long ago
‘Born in the 60s’
was their motto.
An obedient generation
derisively mocked
disdainfully scorned
hostily hated
intensely disliked
shunted aside
no matter how much they tried.
Last hired,
first fired,
expendable
quietly maneuvering through society.
Keeping out of the way
of the more powerful ones
who yielded authority and
slapped them in the face
or upon the wrist
or still shouted them down
whenever they spoke up, out, or about.
Once their voice was heard but only once, no more.
Oh, there was a generation.
You May Not Live Here!(March 1990)
(Gasp!) What?! You?!
You may not live here!
Cannot, will not, must not, shall not dwell here!
Get out, leave now,
I do not want you here!
I do not like you, cannot stand you.
You disturb me,
you perturb me,
your presence ills me.
But why can’t I…
--I don’t care!
But I want this…
--So what, I care not for your wants!
