    Foreword

I grew up with aunts and uncles who are and were great cooks. My aunty Merle taught me how to cook and bake. When I was about 6 years old, she would call me over most Saturday afternoons and we would cook or bake an amazing dish together. Of course at that age, I remember enjoying the eating more than the cooking. The first meal we cooked was chicken curry, perhaps that explains why I love curry so much. I learned very quickly that when cooking, be creative and go with your instinct.

I rarely follow recipes as I love using the ingredients we have and it gives me great joy to cook and create delicious meals for family and friends.

The recipes in this cookbook are family favourites. I trust you will enjoy making these delicious meals as much as I have enjoyed writing this cookbook. They are all handmade, just like the photographs. I hope you add your own flavour to these recipes and enjoy sharing beautiful meals with your family and friends because…

Food has the power to bring people together. No matter who you are, where you live or your culture, having a meal together creates special moments and memories.

Yours in cooking and sharing delicious food,

    Carole

Butternut soup reminds me of cold, snowy days in Canada. The smell

was so inviting and the flavour heart-warming.
