Soulsongs #1 - #125
Soulsong #1 - Commitment
The life I’ve dreamed of is here for me now - money, health, love, fulfilling work, spare time for fun and recreation, meaningful friendships. My desires are always sent by a Universe that responds to my every longing.
But my dream life comes at a price: I must give up my unhappiness.
How do I go about giving up unhappiness? Do I dig and delve within myself to figure out where I’m less-than-content and why?
Not necessary. All I need do is start to notice and release unhappy thoughts and reactions whenever they surface throughout my day, replacing them with thoughts that feel better.
Thoughts of regret, apprehension, envy, complaint, criticism - they must go. Likewise thoughts of discouragement, inferiority, and lack.
My unhappy thinking is all that stands between me and the experiences I desire. I commit now to releasing and replacing old patterns. I commit now to joy.
Soulsong #2 - Momentous Moments
When I boil it all down, my day consists of (1) me and (2) moments of time. Sure, my life is full of people, events, opportunities, and challenges. But when I cease, for a bit, to focus on all the variables and instead hone in on what is constant, I find only myself and time.
Since all else is ever changing, the only thing I can control is how I interface with these moments of time. I see now that I, and I alone, choose how I experience these moments and that it is possible to live them in a consistently positive, calm, joyful way. Not only is it possible, it is extremely desirable for obvious reasons (peace feels good!) and not-so-obvious reasons (joy opens the door to my deepest desires).
I focus now on experiencing more, and more, and ever more relaxed, happy moments. As I come to understand that this is my central work and everything, everything else is peripheral, I begin to experience a most delightful irony: all the periphery starts to fall into place.
Soulsong #3 - Choose Inner Peace
If I notice myself thinking thoughts of lack, limitation, anger, or discouragement, I let them go.
If I find myself scurrying frantically through life, I slow down - stop, even - until I regain composure.
When I notice bodily tension, I deliberately release it.
I realize now that reacting to life in old knee-jerk ways isn’t serving me well. I understand that the toll on my system from being harried and hurried is just too great.
There’s another way to do life, and I embrace it now. It is the way of inner poise, calm, and ease. No matter what circumstances I’m facing, no matter what events are unfolding in the world, I choose inner peace. Whenever that state of being starts to erode, I consciously bring it back.
When I am calm and peaceful, my heart’s desires begin to flow to me. When I
