RED BLOOD CELL DISORDERS

BONE MARROW ABNORMALITIES

Aplastic Anemia

Causes: Fanconi’s syndrome, chemicals (Benzene), medications (Chloramphenicol, gold), radiation, idiopathic, chemotherapy, malignancy (especially leukemias), infections (parvovirus)

Pancytopenia (normochromic, normocytic anemia)

Bone marrow biopsy (most specific test) → ↓cells
