    The Hunt

    Sinister snake,

    Stalking its innocent prey.

    Unaware of the danger,

    The rabbit salvages for food

In order to feed its young.

As the snake approaches the unsuspecting prey,

    The grass begins to sway.

    The rabbit has been alerted

    Of an apparent danger.

The rabbit perks its ears to listen.

It wrinkles its nose to smell.

    It poises itself to react

At the latest point of reaction.

    The snake is unaware

That it has made its presence noted.

So it slowly makes its approach.

Now, the snake is in striking distance.

It is now aware that the rabbit

    Knows of its presence.

    He smells the fear emanating

    From its skin, in its

    Otherwise unsuspecting calm.

    Now, the rabbit smells the

    Cold blooded serpent nearby.

It hears its black heart beating.

    It feels hunger and desperation

Of this beast, ready to strike.

Ready to kill and eat its flesh.

The snake strikes out at its prey.

The rabbit jumps out of its range.

    In fitful desperation, the snake

    Strikes out again and again.

    The rabbit is too quick

To be caught in the snake’s jaws of death.

    The rabbit has escaped death.

It will return to its young

To feed its young and to rest.

The rabbit escaped to live another day.

    The snake tired and defeated,

Lays in the grass to rest.

    Its desperation and desire

    Fuels its hunger pains.

    Now, it must search again,

    For prey to survive.

    The hunt will continue.

    The hunted must be aware

Of the danger of the hunt.

    Sleepless

    I’m so damn tired.

    It’s twelve noon now,

I’ve been up since two-forty this morning.

    I couldn’t sleep last night.

    And I’m hurting right now,

I’m doing all I can to stay awake.

It’s getting nearly impossible to think.

    I need to sleep.

My weekend was really quite depressing.

    I didn’t have a thing to do

    Or anywhere to go.

I came to the point of thinking,

    Something like this:

What’s it matter if I sleep or not?

What’s it matter if I eat or not?

Who cares about what I do?

    I had nothing to do.

    I had nowhere to go

And no one to go with.

    I have no life.

    It seems like no matter

What I do, it doesn’t matter.

It seems, I can’t shine through

    In whatever I show.

It seems the longer I go

    Without sleep, the more

    I seem to ramble on

    With this rhetorical shit.

    Sleep, I need to sleep.

    Without sleep, I’m slipping.

It’s true, I seem to be

Slipping into some kind of depression.

    Women, they look at me

As if I was the plague.

    Most people look at me

    As if I was insane.

    The friends I have

    Seem to look at me

    As if I was invisible.

My sleeplessness must be playing tricks on me.

    Then again, like I said,

    I’m just trying to do

    Something, anything, to

Keep me awake as long as I can.

    So forgive the despairing

    Folds of this ink,

Because it is just my sleeplessness

Taking a hold of my hand.

This is just a sleepy scroll

    Of rubbish in an attempt

    To stay awake, stay awake.

    Rubbish, garbage, non-sense,

    A bloody rhetoric.

    I feel like I’m

A member of the walking dead.

    Sleepless, I’m tired.

Good-night, at the next appropriate time.

    Just For One Night

    Come on baby, touch me.

    Can you see me?

    Can you hear me?

    Can you feel me?

    Touch me baby.

    See how cold I am?

    See how lonely I am?

    See how frightened I am?

    Touch me, please, touch me?

    Do you hear me?

I need you to touch me.

    Please, feel me.

    Do you feel my heartbeat?

Do you feel how cold I am?

    Do you hear my pleas?

    Touch me.

    See me.

    I need your touch.

    Please, I’m begging you.

    Please hold me.

    I need your touch tonight.

    Please hold me tonight.

    I am cold tonight.

    I am frightened tonight.

Let me feel you close tonight.

Let me hear your whispers and breath

    Against my ears and skin.

I don’t want to be alone tonight.

I’m not asking to make love.
