About this ebook

SUBTERFUGE SOBRIETY is a collection of obscene poems, songs, and pieces of prose that reflect on the abstruseness of modern literature, the chaotic political climate of new millennium, and the absurdist nature of life. Some may call it charming and deep. Others may call it pervasive and degenerate. It’s all of the above - and more! So, if you are in the mood for disturbing nonsense, this book might be your cup of tea or coffee or whatever floats your boat.

    Introduction

I started writing this kind of poetry during my Sophomore year of college in Amherst, Mass. It was in the evening and I was spending time with a friend who, at that point, was hosting a radio show. I’m really not sure what possessed me to do this. Knowing that the group published anything students submitted to them, I wanted to write something just incredibly ridiculous. So, having half of an idea in my head, I sat down and wrote Pandemic in the Colossus to the sweet sounds of Cattle Decapitation. I showed the poem to my friends and they thought it was hilarious (mostly because it was riddled with inside jokes- hence the diamonds for diamonds.)

From that point forward, I have dedicated my life towards developing my craft and poetic voice…

...yeah I didn’t even fool you there; I just continued writing this stuff from time to time, making the content a little bit more intentional. Though my process of developing word combinations and metering
