Joseph Veebe is passionate about a healthy lifestyle. Veebe believes many modern sickness and health conditions are due to unhealthy eating habits and poor lifestyle. Humans have used spices from the beginning of time. One can find references to various spices in ancient scripts such as the Old Testament, Bhagavad-Gita, and other writings. Ancient Egyptians, Chinese, Indians, Arabs, Greeks, and Romans have all used spices for various purposes, from cooking to food preservation and as medicine. There were many things that attracted humans to the use of spices – their aroma, their distinct taste and ability to flavor food, their color, and last but not least their medicinal properties. Spices also helped early humans to preserve food and other things. Archeologists discovered the use of spices as preservatives or offerings in ancient Egyptian tombs and in other excavations. There are records of many civilizations around the world using herbs and spices for common ailments such as wound healing, fever, microbial infections, and such.
In modern cooking, spices are used not only to flavor food but also for their health benefits. The recipes included in this book healthy and made out of fresh ingredients – no processed or preserved ingredients. Most of the recipes are quick and easy and takes an average of 20-25 minutes to prepare.
I have not used a rigid format for these recipes. You can vary the measurements to get it a low, medium, or high level of spice. I also give you optional ingredients and alternate ways of cooking (stovetop, instant pot, air fryer, oven, etc.). Consider these as more of recipe ideas and you can be creative in using less or more spices and also using alternate ingredients to create a slightly different dish out of the same recipe idea.
