This book is for my friends who still find it a pleasure to read. Nothing can replace the pleasure of reading. Entertainment technology makes exponential leaps in every decade. But there are thoughts and emotions that can only be communicated through reading and can never be communicated through movies. Some people even read the books from where these movies were taken. Who knows? Some of these stories will be made into movies one day.

    Tiruchirappalli Coin

It was Brihannala’s last day of delivering various items from Ramil’s Store. It would also be his last day as a delivery boy. Brihan was now nineteen years old and he had to start his own business no matter how small. His savings wasn’t much but it provided him a cart and sumptuous amount to start his life as a street vendor selling bread and drinks, usually tea mixed with ginger. Brihan’s life was sad. He was born in Sri Lanka and became an orphan. But both his parents were native to Tiruchirappalli. Stricken with poverty they left for the southernmost part of Sri Lanka. Life went from bad to worst. His father died. His mother went back to Tiruchirappalli to give away his son. His mother left him on the door step of Mario Miguel, a cook of an Englishman Arthur Hesbon. His mother, Elisa left a letter concerning the reason of her abandonment. The Englishman took him in and considered him his son. So he was named Brihannala Hesbon. He recalled.

    I’m your father now.

Father Art, I’m not even an Englishman. How can that be? Brihannala asked.

Relationships are beyond the blood line. In fact, I’m proud to be your father. I see meekness in you. I hope you stay that way. And you will not look for your destiny. Your destiny will find you. Arthur replied.

He told himself that he had no problem with rent so what he makes for a day would be enough for him including some poor people who ask for alms. All was well with Brihan’s life. He had simple pleasures every Monday. For Monday was his free day to roam the city, picking up things on the road, screws, nuts, bolts, coins, even a piece of jewelry. He had been collecting coins since he was ten years old for the Englishman was himself a collector. But Brihan quitted sometime when he was fifteen when he realized this was a rich man’s leisure. Paul Zimmerman himself had gotten into such fever or frenzy that a week after Arthur’s burial, he visited Brihan asking him about a coin. And Paul himself did the chores of cleaning the house. Brihan still had his collections which were just few, eighty-eight pieces of coins.

And when it was rainy day on a Monday and he couldn’t do much at the streets, he simply stayed at home enjoying his old coins. And at one time, he found a letter that belonged to Arthur Hesbon, he didn’t open it. But this time, thinking that he was already dead, he
