Shrimp and Grits

I ONCE DRESSED UP as half of shrimp and grits for Halloween. My best friend, Lauren, was the shrimp, and I was a bag of grits (you can take the girl out of the South …). I can’t actually remember the details, but this Halloween costume led to one of the only fights we’ve had as friends. I now refuse to be part of group Halloween costumes.
