BookID is an important part of Scribd’s concerted efforts to support the rights of intellectual property owners. BookID disables access to content that matches reference samples of copyrighted works that parties have submitted for inclusion in the BookID database. Scribd also includes reference samples in the BookID database when it removes material in response to a DMCA notification under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c). Click here to learn more about the BookID copyright protection system.
Scribd strives to ensure that its automated system does not restrict access to material in the public domain. However, the improper or inadvertent inclusion of reference samples in the BookID database may temporarily restrict access to classic literature, government works, religious texts, legal filings, and other content in the BookID system. The automated nature of the system and the volume of both reference samples and material uploaded to Scribd prevents us from reaching out to users before content they have uploaded is disabled.
If your content has been removed by BookID, and you believe the removal is in error, you may request a manual review by Scribd. To request a review of a BookID match, forward the removal notice that you received from Scribd along with a brief explanation of why you believe the removal was erroneous to email@example.com. We endeavor to address all review requests within 2 business days. BookID removals are not eligible for DMCA counter-notification.
