    Abraham Lincoln was born in Hodgenville, Kentucky on February 12, 1809 and he was the 16th President of the

    United States. He received 40% of the popular vote, but carried 180 of 303 Electoral votes. in 1832 when the Black Hawk War broke out, the volunteers in the area elected Lincoln to be their captain. After this war, Lincoln began his political career and was elected to the Illinois state legislature in 1834. He successfully led his country through its greatest constitutional, military and moral crisis, but a sudden and tragic accident ended with his life in 1965.
