    Camera-based character recognition has a possibility to realize a variety of app lications and has been paid attention.

    However, character images are often taken from di erent angles and characters tend to be distorted. In such a case, recognition accuracy becomes worse. Therefore, we must nd some me thods to deal with this problem. In this paper, we experimentally evaluate some a ne-invariant local descr iptors by testing how well they can recognize a ne distorted characters. As a result, a ne-invariant local desc riptors are robust to a ne distorted characters to some extent.
