Some say that it has always been with us, some say it as new or old as democracy itself. However, of importance should be ways of eradicating it. First and foremost there detection of corruption for it to be eradicated. Appropriate mechanisms should be deployed for identification of corruption cases. Moral science and civic sense should be taught in schools as a second method of fighting corruption. Early understanding of these subjects will help in fighting the evils of corruption to some extent. Third is setting up of more institutions that can fight corruption in our country. Such institutions should be to the county level and endorsed with more powers.Fouth is the change in existing procedural laws that seem to be insufficient. We need stringent laws similar to the prevention of terrorism act to fight corruption. Change in social attitude is fifth in fighting corruption. There is lack of social stigma about corruption. Instead of thinking that greed is a need; the public should know that it is a disease. There should be public participation as way of fighting corruption by coming out in the public and exposing people who are corrupt There should be proper disposal of corruption cases in fighting corruption. The courts have a major role in fighting corruption. In many cases, the persons facing corruption charges ritire and a verdict at such time make difference to them. Cases should be disposed of within six months. If cases are going to drag then there is no logic in even fighting them. Last but not least, there should be no reinstatement of corrupt persons. They should be barred from holding public offices for life. If there is a pending corruption case against them, the politicians should not be allowed to contest elections. The war against corruption is though hard but it only takes the courage of an individual to be won, and that is you. Save Kenya by joining in the fight against corruption.
