THE IMPORTANCE OF COLOR

WHAT COLOR’S YOUR MOOD?

Color plays a very important role in the world we live in

today. Everywhere go we are surrounded by various
colors, shades and hues. So why is it when it comes time to
choosing that paint color for your living room or bedroom
we fear using color?
It is important to understand the power that color holds.
Aside from the day-to-day effects that color plays in
regards to making choices about which ice-cream, or
what to wear for the day; color makes a huge impact on
our mood and can evoke an emotion or feeling. Through
the use of color you can take any room and transform it
into a space with depth, feeling, power and style.

There are some basic elements to each space that should be considered
before you paint. What is its size, what is its purpose, what type of feeling do I
want this room to create? For example if you have a small room, you might go
with a lighter toned color to make the room feel open and more spacious.
However, if you have a large room, you can afford to go a little darker adding
a dramatic effect to
the room. Color can “Through the use of color you can

associations they hold. Red is an arousing, exciting and stimulating color. It is
associated with passion, strength, activity and warmth. Red might be a good
color for a dining room; it will create a warm and inviting space that stimulates
conversation and interaction. Blue is a peacemaker color and stimulates
calm, relaxing and comfortable feelings. It is a cool color which at times may
evoke a feeling of loneliness. It is a clean color and therefore might most
commonly be seen in bathrooms, babies’ rooms and kitchens. The positive
associations with green are of nature and growth; and, depending on the
shade can be refreshing and calming. Green is generally a good color for
offices. It encourages growth and progress but maintains serenity and peace.
