FINAL ASSIGNEMENT: Solution of Navier-Stokes Equations for Flow and Heat-Transfer Date: 28/06/2012 Submit before 15th July, 2012

Using the Scilab codes for the NS solver, take up a CFD problem in Cartesian Co-ordinate system, different from the problems in Lab # 5. Modify the code to set up the problem and perform a non-dimensional CFD simulation, for various values of non-dimensional governing parameters (such as Reynolds number, Prandtl number, Grashoff number etc.). Make a report, in a paper format, having following sections: 1. Introduction 2. Literature Survey (if possible, search for the published paper on the CFD problem attempted by you and do a literature survey) 3. Conclusions from the literature survey and Objective of the present work 4. Physical Description of the Problem (make a sketch of the problem set-up, showing the dimensions and boundary conditions) 5. Numerical Details a. Grid-Independence Study b. Code Validation Study c. Other details (Such as time-step, grid-size and steadiness criterion) 6. Results and Discussion (plot the results with proper figure number and caption; and discuss the results) 7. Conclusion 8. References SUBMIT YOUR REPORT as a pdf file, on a separate email-thread created in moodle, for the assignment submission.

BEST OF LUCK Keep Playing with the OPEN-SOURCE Codes (developed by Mr. Vishesh Aggarwal, under the Supervision of Dr. Atul Sharma and Dr. Bhalchandra Puranik, IIT Bombay) in Future also.
