The Chief Archivist of the United States will present results of pro-active search and declassification of Katyn-related documentation in the possession of various agencies of the United States Government. The Katyn Project has been undertaken by the National Archives and Records Administration in the fall of 2011 upon request from President Barack Obama, based on the initiative of Congress Representatives Marcy Kaptur and Daniel Lipinski, and with the support of the Katyn Council. Congress Representatives, Senators, Government Officials, Katyn Families, and members of the Polish-American community will participate in the Conference. The disclosure of newly declassified documentation related to the Katyn Crime by the US National Archives and Records Administration will expand our knowledge and understanding of the scope and circumstances of the Katyn Hecatomb in the context of World War II and beyond. It shall also contribute to the development of preventive mechanisms against grave international crimes.
