INTRODUCTION
Balancing has been a major factor affecting productivity, wear and tear of material, shorter life span of rotating parts. Noise induction and danger to the safety of the personnel, hence it was necessary to solve this problem and reducing unbalance without increasing maintenance cost.
OBJECTIVE
The aim of rotor balancing is to achieve satisfactory running when installed on site. It means no more than an acceptable magnitude of vibration is caused by the unbalance remaining in the rotor. To reduce unbalance in rotors to the level of permissible unbalance so that it does not affect the performance. To reduce noise level caused by unbalance. Ensuring safety of personal working near by. Improving productivity.
Problem
When aerofoil blades and metal sheet together forms impeller, due to minor differences in aerofoil blades and welding defects impeller is imbalanced which causes vibrations, premature wear and tear and increase in production time.
Manufacturing process
Cutting metal pieces for impeller Bending process Welding Mounting of shaft Balancing Manufacturing casing for impeller Final performance test
Bending process
two types of bending process 1) cylindrical 2) conical mass distortion occurs which is the first sign of unbalance
Welding
when arc welding is used scattering occurs used depending upon its application Mounting of shaft If not done properly it may cause unbalance to large extent.
