‘The An-2 airplane of agricultural version /An-2R/ with
ASz~61IR engine and AW-2 propeller ia » metal-atructure biple-
ne designed for agricultura. operations including seeding, ,
fertilizing as well as pest control with the use of liquia
and powdered chenicels. After removing
the ag. equipment the plane can be used, similerly to
its cargo-transport version, for transporting cargo, passen
gers or perachutsts and paratroopers, ov-on installing sanite~
ry out-fit - for transporting the sick.
As far as design is concerned the An-2R eirplene differs
from standard version /An-27/ only in minor detail.
Cnly the changes ensbling the installing end functioning of
ag. equipment have been rade on the airplane.
Besides, to lengthen the life of the airplane the fusela-
ge end wings ere peinted with enamels resistent to chemicals
used in agricultural practice.
Entrance door and fremes, 5th and 15th /together with
the door/ are seeled.

AIRPLANE DESIGN /SHORT DESCRIPTION/
1. Fuselage
The fuselage of An-2 airplane is of semi=monocoque structure.
The carrying structure of fuselage is formed by a framework
and 2 duralumin sheet skin.
The fuselage framework consistsof 26 frames, longerons,
carrying beams end of the floor in cargo=passenger cabin.
2, Wings
‘The wing set consists of upper and lowe wings, inter-wing
struts, four supporting tie-rods and six carrying ones,
Wing *truc’ ~e is of double-spar type, ceated vith canvas
with a profile of Plla-14% constant all elong wing span.
‘The upper wing is fitted with slotted ailerons provided with
ass and aerodynamic conpensatic:: with differential displece-
ment. Ailerons mey also be used as flaps while not loosing
their main fumction of ailerons.
Tr left etleron has a belencing flep electrically controlled.
All elong the span of upper wing the automatic slats ere
hung. Both the upper and lower wing are fitted with slotted
flaps provided with extal-serodynamtc compensation and elec=
tric control, The upper wings contain six sheet-metel fuel
tanks.
3. Control surfaces
Centre] surfaces consist of horizontal stabilizer. two struts,
elevator, fin and rudder,

Under the cabin ceiling in transport veriant two steel-wire
cords are hung to hook the parachute self-release devices
for perachutists,
Between the 11th and 15th frame there is a cargo-loading door
to be opened outside upwards, which enables transporting
large-size cargo.
Within the cergo-loading door there 4s 2 passenger door ‘to
be opened inside the airplane.
The right wall of the cabin is provided with inscriptions
informing about correct arrangemert of cargo.
Cargo is to be fixed by meens of loceting catches permanently
mounted to wallsend detachable ones screwed into threaded
holes in the floor, The cergo is to be fixed with 9 cords
fwnen of large size/ or with cord net /small cergo/,
For transporting the sick the mounting of 5 stretchera is
provided for, three on each side at three levers.
To seperate the cabin with stretchers from the entrance
vestibule the thermo-insulating curtain is spun on the pins
of frames 11 and 12,
Additionally the places for installing first-eid kit, thermos
and bedpan have been provided.
7. Airplane Systems
A. Pneumatic System /see Fig. 1.2/.
‘The pneumatic system of An-2R airplane serves for the con-
trolling of the brakes of main landing gear wheels, for
locking the tatl wheel in neutral position and for
controlling the ag. equipment.
