    Happy Fall!
    We are settling in to a fantastic school year! There are many new and exciting events taking place at Southgate this year. We had our first Peaceable School assembly at the end of September. We all gathered outside to sing about peace and some teachers talked about what peace meant to them. We all received a purple t-shirt to wear. We will be asked to wear these shirts throughout the year when we have our peace assemblies. Part of the program will be having a word of the month that we will incorporate into our monthly activities. Last month the word was citizenship. This month our word is Respect. The purpose of the Peaceable school program is to promote a sense of community throughout the school and end bullying. Parent conferences will be in November this year. If you have not signed up be sure to do so. Students have been working hard on their work boxes. Included in the work boxes are a variety of academic tasks. Some tasks include peer and staff identification, color, shape, and body part identification. As cold and flu season approaches, please be sure to monitor your child and keep them home when they are sick. This can be an excessive running nose, coughing or a fever.This will prevent the spread of germs to other students.
