The Plumbers Pipe

Make an ine xpensive instr ument easily!


Template produced by Making Music magazine for the March/April 2011 issue, based on instructions from Mark Shepards book Simple Flutes: A Guide to Flute Making and Playing. Print this PDF on standard letter paper Cut paper along black dotted line Cut 15 9/16 length of 3/4 PVC pipe Wrap Diagram C tightly lengthwise around pipe, aligning right edge of paper with end of pipe and tape in place Glue cap on opposite end with PVC cement as shown in Diagram A Extend baseline of template past end of paper to end of pipe Measure 5/16 from capped end of pipe along the baseline and drill a 7/16 hole (this will be where you place your lips) Drill the other holes with indicated bits through paper Remove burrs with knife, sand edges smooth Clean with baking soda, water and scouring pad Enjoy playing!
