Philosophy: Cosmological Argument (Strongest Criticism)

Efficient cause, tells us that from nothing, comes nothing. Meaning, there is no such thing that exist mainly by itself; it must be caused by some other being. Take for example your existence, without your parents you wont be here on Earth, and without your parents parents, they cannot be here on Earth as well, and it goes on and on, basically its infinite. This being who is the cause of everything we call God. However, if we look at it closer and study what Aquinas says; it is unjustified. How so? First point, he talks about our senses being our source of proof or evidence to what we are able to conceive or what our eyes can see. We have to remember that in so far what our senses tell us, that is; everything has its causes and effect. For instance, your parents got married and as the effect of such marriage, you are now here. Aquinas basically tells us that the argument everything points back to a being we call God, is unjustified. First point, we cannot see God, we cannot sense this being we call God. Which is why this could be the strongest criticism among all others in the Cosmological Argument simply because Aquinas failed to prove something that our senses cannot detect; and he basically based almost all of his arguments on efficient cause using our senses.

To be able to kind of understand this entry, you have to read Aquinas Cosmological Argument. This is a short entry of mine trying to explain what I understood about his arguments. Hehe.
