The Hunger Games

Title sequence is an anecdote as to why the Hunger Games exist. The background is very dark which adds tension to this scene as it makes the viewer think how horrible the Hunger Games must be. The writing is very plain which adds to the tension because it makes the Hunger Games seem as if it is something that has to happen.

Over the shoulder shot, giving the impression that there is a discussion/interview going on. By having the background darker it makes the characters seem more important. The camera is also slightly looking up at the character whose face we can see, giving us the impression that he is currently in charge. Close up of face, allowing the audience to clearly see the emotions that the character is feeling. By keeping the background dark in this scene as well, it gives the impression that she is important, the camera is also looking up at her making her seem in control and more superior. Extreme close up of sign, by having the extreme close up of an order, it makes it seem like an order that there is no choice but to obey. The background is also blurry giving the impression that nothing matters over the other side of the fence just the sign telling no one to go over it.
