Professional Learning and Ethical Practice: The teacher engages in ongoing professional learning and uses evidence to continually

evaluate his/her practice, particularly the effects of his/her choices and actions on others (learners, families, other professionals, and the community), and adapts practice to meet the needs of each learner. I met InTASC standard 9 during my student teaching placements. The biggest way that I met this standard was by listening to one of my mentor teachers. The first grade class that I was in was a great experience. The mentor teacher that I was assigned to was able to help me learn new way and better ways to improve my teaching. During one of my evaluations my mentor teacher mentioned that I could improve not only my teaching but also the students understanding of what they are learning. She told me that I could have students talk in pairs before they share to the whole class. This allows students to think a little bit before they answer and it also allows the students work socially and collaboratively. This allows students to process the information and think deeply about what is asked of them. After that evaluation and tip I immediately focused on improving in that aspect of my teaching. I began to find the students were more eager to work together and share what they were thinking and what answers they came up with. I continually asked questions throughout my placements in order to grow as a learner and as a teacher. The assessments that were given to the students were assessments that gauged where those students needed improvement and where they were succeeding. These assessments also told me where I needed to give further instruction and create a deeper understanding. I was able to reflect every week on what teaching techniques were working for me, which ones were not working and which areas of teaching that I needed to improve. This allowed me to see exactly what I needed to work on and showed me where I was exceeding. To work more on this standard I can continuously reflect on my teaching techniques as well as go to classes to further my knowledge on everything educational. Collaborating and asking questions with other teachers will allow for improvement in my professional learning as well as my ethical practice. I will be able to see what other teachers views are, that may mold my current views into bigger and better practices.
