Do You Know?
There are plans to close the Fire Station at Cefn Fforest and Bargoed and build a new Community Fire Station in Aberbargoed, it is currently planned to relocate the 2 fire engines from Cefn Fforest and the 1 fire engine from Bargoed, which in principal sounds a wonderful idea!!

Do You Know?
The Fire cover that you receive in your area is currently provided by Four Fire Stations; Cefn Fforest, 2 Fire engines (manned by one Full time crew one RDS Part time crew) Bargoed one Fire engine (one RDS Part time crew) Abercarn one Fire engine (one RDS Part time crew) Abertillery one Fire engine (one RDS Part time crew) As part of a Fire Cover Review the stations at Abercarn and Abertillery have already had their duty system changed from Full time cover to RDS (Part time cover which respond to incidents from their home or within the Community via the fire station) which has increased the response times to incidents from these stations by several minutes.

But Did You Know?

When the last fire cover modelling exercise was carried out it would have considered the risks in the area, what future growth/development that was planned and identified what fire cover was required in the future. It indicated that South Wales Fire Service should close the Fire Station at Cefn Fforest and Bargoed and build a new Community Fire Station in the vicinity of Fair View not in Aberbargoed.

So What AreThe Potential Implications Of These Changes To The Current Fire Cover within Your Community?
There has already been an increase in response times to incidents for Abercan and Abertillery by several minutes due to the change in the duty system. The RDS Fire engines responding to incidents from the proposed new station will take considerably longer to reach the areas of Fair View, Cefn Fforest, Blackwood, Oakdale and Pontllanfraith because of its INCORRECT LOCATION, increasing the risk to your family, friend and your Community. There is also a high probability that within a short space of time the three Fire engines located at the new Fire Station will also be reduced to two, further increasing the risk to your Family, friends and your Community.

ITS NOT TO LATE TO ACT

If you feel strongly about your safety and the Fire Cover your Community receives contact your local Councillor or Keith Reynolds 01443 822140 or Member of Parliament and ask the question
