Bywater Community Development Corporation promotes area

Nonprofit partners with LSUs BR PRessworks to promote Bywater area using SCVNGR Oct. 18, 2012: 10:00 a.m. News Facts The Bywater Art Walk will be Nov. 10, 2012 in the Bywater area of New Orleans. Bywater Community Development Corporation and BR PRessworks are putting on an event using SCVNGR. The LSU student public relations firm BR PRessworks is only one of four groups given a grant to work with SCVNGR to engage local nonprofits. SCVNGR is a geolocation-based smartphone application designed to engage communication between users and their locations. How Bywater received its name is unsure. Some people claim it came from an old telephone exchange, the winning entry of a contest amongst high school students to name the area was Bywater, or in 1947, businessmen started to advertise the area as Bywater.
