Teachers Comments: Connor is a sociable student who is beginning to develop time management strategies. Connor enjoys working in group situations and shares ideas willingly. He has a very good range of personal experiences that he can share with his peers. Connor is reading at his chronological age. He is using a range of strategies to help him understand the texts he reads. Connor is beginning to ask questions to clarify his thinking regarding the texts. We will continue to develop Connors reading skills to ensure he is gaining the meaning of the range of genres he will be reading in 2013.

How You Can Help at Home: Encourage reading for enjoyment. Visit the library regularly. Read to your child and listen to them read.

WRITING

Connor has many personal experiences he has shared in his writing using simple sentences. During the year we have been trying to develop using richer language to describe the events Connor has been involved in. Connor needs to continue to work on spelling and using more descriptive language to enhance his writing.

How You Can Help at Home:


Have writing equipment available for your child. Get your child to write about some special events or letters to relatives.

MATHEMATICS
Assessment Results: (from E portfolio)
Connor is working at the stage expected for his year level and age. He has been working hard on learning a range of strategies to solve mathematical problems. Connor needs to continue to work on rapid recall of basic facts to help solve larger equations and word problems.

How You Can Help at Home: Take your child shopping and get them to add up what things will cost. Play maths games in the car. Practise Times tables with them.
