Dear COE Faculty and Staff, In its regularly scheduled meeting this morning all FAC members decided

collectively to resign from the COE Faculty Advisory Committee effective immediately. We deeply regret that recent events left resignation as the only option for us for the following reasons:

1. Article VI, Section 4 of the Manual of Procedure, College of Education states that the
responsibilities of the FAC shall include, a. to facilitate liaison and communication between the administration and faculty on all matters of general interest. FAC members have come to the conclusion that we no longer can meet this responsibility, because the relationship and lines of communication with the COE administration have been so severely compromised that we no longer can serve the facilitative function of the FAC charter.

2. Earlier this week the FAC Chair was forced for protection of his personal integrity to violate the
governance process of the FAC to deliberate and decide on matters crucial to the charter of the FAC. We consider these actions a violation of the principles of shared governance and the integrity of a COE governance body.

3. The lack of transparency in administrative decision making processes have rendered the FAC
powerless in effectively and efficiently meeting its responsibilities. As individual faculty members we remain committed to helping the COE move through these extremely difficult times and finding solutions to move the college forward. We deeply regret that it is come to this. In care of the College of Education Volker Thomas, Chair Megan Foley Nicpon, Secretary Kristen Missall Soonhye Park Leslie Schrier Amanda Thein Carolyn Wanat
