The Hall Petch relation relates the yield stress ( the lower yield stress for samples that show a yield point phenomenon) linearly to the inverse of the square root of the average grain diameter. From the graphic above, we can see the relationship between yield stress (y) and grain boundary in Hall Petch equation:

And from the virtual lab, we get the equation of Hall Petch is:

This prove that the Hall-Petch Relationship is work. We can conclude that the yield strength and the hardness for the material are increase if the grain size is smaller. So, a material could be made infinitely strong if the grains are made infinitely small. This appropriate with the Hall-Petch Relationship ( )
