I have had the pleasure of working with Jennifer during SY 2010-2011. Jennifer was a para-educator who was assigned to work with 2 students in my class. I was always impressed with Jennifers positive attitude and professionalism. She came to school on time and was always ready to get to work. She quickly made herself familiar with the students IEPs and learning styles. Not only did she implement activities that I had designed, but she often made games and activities that correlated with what we were doing in the classroom. She used them with her assigned students and asked to pull other children when she had spare time. I appreciated her initiative and willingness to go the extra mile. Jennifer asked for and was willing to listen and respond to constructive feedback. She also asked questions to help her become a better educator. She participated in various trainings and borrowed professional literature to help her respond to the ever changing needs of her students. The children in my class viewed Jennifer as a teacher. They felt comfortable approaching her with questions and loved her being a member of our classroom community. She followed the classroom management system that I had in place and helped adapt it for students on behavior management plans. She even developed and implemented a visual schedule for one of the students. I know that Jennifer will continue to grow and develop her teaching skills and management style as she participates in her student teaching experience.
