    The Morning After…


    Long time ago…
    Two boats were left adrift in the middle of the
    ocean…the currents carried us into the dark
    We drifted without sails- having faith that there
    will be a light and an end somewhere…
    Was it fate that we found each other when our
    boats crossed- guided by all the answers?
    We professed our love:
    and celebrated our beliefs and promises of
    eternity in front of others
    It is not the difference that separates us,
    but our judgments around those
    differences – judgments born out of
    misunderstandings

    I promised you my soul, my love, and remained
    unconditional to your desires and needs…
    I tried to embrace and understand you even when
    you pushed me away…
    Was it not enough?
    My nightmares still wake me with empty shivers
    that plague me- your desire to leave
    My touch still lingers from the last embrace I
    held you with…
    & my lips are as empty as the words that seek
    the answers
    Knowledge is power. The knowledge of
    how we are different give us the power to
    be more accepting, understanding,
    respectful, and appreciative

    If you truly professed your love for me that
    night; help me realize the reasons
    Pain is a salvation if wisdom is the reward
    ~ alleviate the fear and confusion that you share
    with strangers;
    For I do hear and feel the words beyond those
    you whispered to me-
    Believe again that our boats were found with all
    the right reasons
    & we only complete our lives together
    With greater understanding of our
    differences, we can release the judgments
    that compel us to change our partners
    rather than to appreciate and support them
