Sensible Science

What we had to do
We have to research Aerobic and Anaerobic and compare and contrast Research how exercise effects heart rate Test 6 boys 6 girls and see who can use the most force to squeeze the hardest Have 10 students do 100 jumping jacks and see the different heart rates Use PowerPoint to document our results and create graphs
Heart rate sensor

Aerobics &Anaerobic
Aerobics Oxygen based Much slower process Running Both You use a lot of energy in both Substate is burnt to release energy Anaerobic

Non oxygen based

Faster process than aerobics Used when exercising for burst of energy Weight lifting

How does exercise affect heart rate

Blood flows faster through the heart and the muscles around it and this makes the heart beat faster She's
checking how fast her heart rate is going..

You also get out of breath because you use a lot of oxygen and energy

Grip Sensor
We will test 6 boys and 6 girls at squeezing the sensor with as much force as they can with their non dominate hand and we will take the maximum amount of force.
The grip sensor you squeeze

Results to grip sensor

Boys
Anthony:151.1 Erik:160.00 Dom:85.51 Tyler:112.7 Sam:117.6 Sean:98.57

100 jumping jacks

We will test 12 people and have them hold this pulse recorder .Then we will have you hold the item for 10 seconds after you hold the item we will have you do 100 jumping jacks then we will test you again.

Heart rate project

We will test 4 people 2 boys and 2 girls. We will have them sit in a chair and hold the heart rate sensor and wait to see how many times your heart beats in 30 seconds.

Laying down vs. Sitting up

What we learned
We learned that aerobic is oxygen based and anaerobic is non-oxygen based. That all the sensible science projects are hard and VERY FUN!! We learned how to use the lab quest sensors and make graphs using Microsoft Excel ( it is really hard) And how to test grip sensor and heart rate sensor!
