ibre is not the most popular of nutrients, it is often seen as a bit brown and boring. You have probably heard about bre being good for making sure you go to the toilet regularly, which is another reason why people often do not want to talk about it too much! But bre can also be really interesting and important. Fibre does not get digested in your gut like other parts of your food do. It stays in there and helps to keep your gut healthy. You can get bre from things like breakfast cereals, wholemeal or brown bread, brown rice or pasta, baked beans and other pulses like lentils, fruits and vegetables. Fibre provides food for the friendly bacteria in your gut, and this is good news for your immune system. Eating lots of bre- rich foods can also help to keep your energy levels stable and to keep you feeling full between meals and both of these can be especially important when you are training. Eating lots of bre is a great idea to help to keep your whole body healthy, so try and have bre-rich foods with most meals.
