On completion of this unit you should be able to identify and discuss key aspects of a set text, and to construct a response in oral or written form. Key knowledge skills: Understanding of ideas, characters and themes constructed by the author; strategies for preparing, constructing and supporting a response to the text; note-taking as you read; spelling and punctuation skills; small group and whole class discussions. So, we might look at how the author uses characters within the novel to convey meaning about particular themes and you will be asked to write a response along those lines.

On completion of this unit you should be able to create and present texts taking account of audience, purpose and context. Your writing is informed by reading a range of texts exploring the theme of Australian Identity. You will create and present your own written and/or multimodal text with a specific audience, purpose and context in mind. (Eg. essays, scripts for film, radio, stage or television, poetry, short stories, illustrated childrens fiction, websites etc) Key skills and knowledge: You will need to show that you can choose an appropriate text type and subject matter in order to meet the requirements of a specific audience, purpose and context. (Plus the other key areas from outcome 1) 3 5 assessment pieces required.
