Over 34 years of experience in the heavy construction industry, including surveying and engineering, multi-craft supervision and human resources. Extensive experience in the field of Automated Machine Control, including grading, paving and PCCP wireless paving systems that includes 3D modeling, machine setup and troubleshooting. In-depth knowledge and understanding of hardware and software from multiple manufacturers including Trimble and TopCon, as well as Leica Geosystems.

May 2006 Present Granite Construction Sacramento, CA Survey Manager, Utah Region Salt Lake City, UT Organize, train and manage multiple survey crews throughout the state of Utah on various types of work including structural bridges, roadway and sitework for both public and private sector clients. Assisted in the estimation of projects by performing complex take-offs of large and small scale projects using 3D modeling techniques. Develop, train and mentor young employees in survey, computer modeling and take-off applications as well as machine control applications. Performed Survey Manager duties on the Mountain View Corridor Project, a 300 million dollar CMGC project for UDOT in Salt Lake County. A new alignment project that utilized machine control systems for almost all applications, including concrete roadway paving.

Regional Survey Manager, Western Region, Heavy Construction Division Organize, train and manage multiple survey crews on heavy highway construction projects throughout the western United States. Projects ranged from 200 million to 700 million dollars in size. Projects included Highway construction/re-construction, bridge and structures work. Assisted in the estimation of projects by performing complex take-offs of large scale design-build projects using 3D modeling techniques.

2000 2005 Granite Construction Engineer / Survey Manager for Lubbock Area Projects

Lubbock, TX

Manage multiple survey crews on various types of work including structural bridges, railroads, highways and roadwork. Introduced 3D Machine Control grading systems to the Lubbock area. Provide 3D computer models, operator training, troubleshooting and day-today support of multiple BladePro 3D grading systems. Perform site and grading design on several projects from initial survey to final construction. Utilize 3D computer modeling to assist in estimating quantities and what-if design scenarios. Use CAD and 3D modeling to verify design information for correctness and constructability. Perform supervision and office/field engineering duties on several area projects. Supervised various crews for 4 years with a zero OSHA incident rate. 1997 2000 Peter Kiewitt and Sons Salt Lake City, UT Segment Survey Manager, I-15 Reconstruction Project Assigned to Wasatch Constructors on the I-15 Reconstruction Project. Hired in 1997 as a survey Party Chief on the Cottonwood segment of the project. In 1998 I was promoted to the position of segment Survey Manager. In August of 2000, I was reassigned to the Downtown segment to coordinate the survey activities both there and Cottonwood, which was nearing completion. Coordinated with field supervision and management to identify, schedule and execute survey work necessary to the project structures, mass grading and paving groups. Responsible for coordination, operator training, troubleshooting and day-today operations of 3D machine control systems. (BladePro 3D Grade Control) Responsible for the coordination and direct supervision of multiple in-house and subcontract crews. Interacted with the projects hub, or central calculation group to ensure that the required calculations were available and correct. Supervised 40,000+ hours with a zero OSHA incident rate. Performed day-to-day administrative tasks. Used Terramodel software to perform calculations and interface with Geodimeter robotic survey instruments.

1991 1997 VECO Corporation Anchorage, AK Staffing Supervisor, Human Resources Assigned to the Corporate Human Resources office in Anchorage, Alaska. This office was directly responsible for overall HR administration for approximately 3,000 employees in multiple subsidiary companies. Started as a recruiter and held the position of Staffing Supervisor when I chose to relocate my family to Utah 6 years later. Was responsible for very high volume staffing and recruiting requirements of the Corporation. Also participated in EEO, sexual harassment, ADA and FMLA policy development and implementation. Developed, wrote and administered the Corporate Anti-Drug and Alcohol policies for both DOT and non-DOT applications. Interfaced daily with company presidents, managers and employees at all levels to protect the companys interests in the HR field.

1982 1991 VECO Corporation Anchorage, AK Survey Manager Construction Supervisor Assigned to Construction Division on projects all over Alaska. Managed Construction survey crews both in-house and contract crews, on various projects located primarily in the arctic oilfields of Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Type of projects include: Large mass-excavation and embankment jobs for the building of drilling and production islands on the Arctic Ocean. Numerous pipeline projects. Large-scale open pit mine and facilities (Red Dog Mine, Kotzebue). Oil Spill Cleanup (1989 Exxon Valdez Spill, Prince William Sound). Civil, structural and mechanical (pipe) construction of large-scale production and refinery facilities, including offshore oil platforms. Performed other functions as needed pipe engineer, field engineer and craft supervisor.
