You are to present a 4-6 minute Persuasive Oral Presentation on one of the following listed topics.

You will need to undertake extensive research on your topic to present a well-rounded and thoughtful position. Relying on prior or assumed knowledge will be a disadvantage. Each topic may be reversed, depending on your opinion. EG: sugar is more dangerous than fat can be changed to fat is more dangerous than sugar.

Every Australian student should be required to learn a foreign language Soft drinks and energy drinks should be taxed Video games are more dangerous than we think The Elizabeth Holden plant should stop producing the Commodore Should Physical Education be compulsory in schools? Should we be concerned about population growth? Should children or teenagers who commit violent crimes be tried as adults? Should parents of obese children be fined? What is the best way to address and solve obesity in our society? A topic of your choice in consultation with Mr Penn

I would encourage you to follow formal speech guidelines (introduction, body and conclusion), however you have freedom and choice in the methods and form of presentation. Be creative! You will be provided with class time to plan and discuss your ideas, and it is expected that you will write and rehearse your speech at home for homework. You will have access to a laptop and projector to aid your presentation.
