Unfair and unethical practices are unfortunate and fairly common in many businesses.

Instructions
1.

1
Identify the unethical behavior in question and determine how it is affecting you or the organization in which you work. Decide whether the problem is worth reporting and if it will put your job or someone else's job in jeopardy.

2
Create a support group. Find peers and coworkers whom you can trust to keep the issue to themselves. Explain the unethical or illicit behavior and determine the opinion of others. If your coworkers agree, recruit them into your support group.
Determine the correct supervisor or authority figure to whom you will report the problematic behavior. If your boss

is committing the behavior in question, identify your boss's supervisor or an external legal figure who has the power to influence the situation.
4

Blow the whistle. If you fear that whistle-blowing may get you fired or put you into a legal battle, write an anonymous letter or use a third party such as an attorney to report the unethical behavior. Explain the behavior or issue in detail, explain why you believe it is unethical and why it warrants whistle-blowing, as well as how the issue could be resolved.

The Public Interest Disclosure Act (PIDA) is known in the UK as the whistle blowing law. The Act provides that employers should not victimise any worker who blows the whistle in one of the ways set out in the legislation. There is no statutory requirement in the Public Interest Disclosure Act (PIDA) for organisations to have a whistle blowing policy. The Government expects public bodies to have a policy in place and the whistle blowing schemes in local authorities and NHS bodies in England are assessed regularly as part of their external audit and review. Under the Combined Code on Corporate Governance, companies listed in the UK are obliged to have whistle blowing arrangements or explain why they do not.

Vigilance means watchfulness. Watchfulness in an organizational set up ensures that its functioning is as per the laid down policies, procedures and practices. Watchfulness also helps in detection of any deviation from such policies, procedures and practices. Thus, vigilance plays the twin role or preventing lapses and detecting it if and when it takes place so that corrective measures can be taken to prevent recurrence.
